Audiences were thrilled to welcome Keanu Reeves back as the titular character in the fourth installment of the John Wick franchise, ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’, which earned an estimated $73.5 million in its opening weekend.

The action-packed, neo-noir thriller, directed by Chad Stahelski, stars Reeves as a retired hitman who is forced to come out of retirement to take on a powerful criminal enterprise.

The film earned the highest opening weekend of any John Wick movie and is now the biggest debut ever for a Lionsgate production. With the success of the franchise, this is the fourth consecutive number-one opening for Lionsgate.

Sofia Boutella, who stars in the film alongside Reeves, said the success of the franchise could be attributed to the fact that audiences are able to connect with the character.

“John Wick is a character that audiences can relate to because he's a regular person who's been pushed to the edge and is willing to do whatever it takes to protect himself, his friends, and his family,” she said.

The film also stars Halle Berry, Laurence Fishburne, and Ian McShane, among others.

The John Wick franchise has grossed over $643 million worldwide and the fourth installment is expected to add significantly to that figure.

The film has been generally well-received by critics, with many praising the film’s stylish action sequences and the performances of the cast.

‘John Wick: Chapter 4’ has already set a record for the biggest opening weekend ever for a Lionsgate production, and is on its way to becoming one of the highest-grossing films in the franchise. With its thrilling action and well-rounded cast, it’s no wonder audiences have responded so positively to the film.
