How a Nigerian street trader was trafficked in kidney plot

When Nigerian street trader, Izu Igwe, received an offer from a friend to travel to the UK to start a new life, he thought he had been given a great opportunity. Little did he know that he was about to become the victim of a sinister organ trafficking plot.

It began in 2018 when Izu was approached by a friend who was offering him the chance to travel to the UK and work as a cleaner. Izu jumped at the chance and soon found himself in a car park in Edgware, London, where he was told to enter a flat and strip to his underwear.

Once inside, Izu was told he was going to be given an injection that would make him feel better. He was then sedated and awoke to find his right kidney had been removed. It was only when he was taken to hospital that he discovered what had happened.

Police investigations revealed that the organ traffickers had coerced Izu into undergoing the procedure using threats and violence. His kidney was then sold on the black market for a large sum of money.

The case highlights the shocking reality of organ trafficking and the exploitation of vulnerable people. It also serves as a reminder of the dangers of being tricked into travelling abroad for work, especially when the offer is from someone you know.

Fortunately, Izu was eventually reunited with his family in Nigeria and is now recovering from the ordeal. However, for many others, the story does not end so happily.

Organ trafficking is a major problem around the world, with thousands of people falling victim to traffickers every year. It is therefore important that everyone is aware of the risks and takes steps to ensure they do not become a victim.
