DPD driver 'spat at by fuming man and told she'd be raped' after delivering parcel

A DPD driver was subjected to a vile tirade of abuse from a fuming man who spat at her and told her she would be raped, it has been reported.

The incident happened in Birmingham on Wednesday evening when the woman driver, who has not been named, had just finished delivering a parcel.

The man was waiting outside the address and started to become aggressive, according to reports.

He allegedly spat at the driver before threatening her with rape, leaving her shaken and upset.

A spokesperson for DPD said: “We are deeply shocked and saddened by this incident. Our driver was subjected to an unacceptable level of aggression and abuse. We take such behaviour very seriously and are working closely with the police to ensure the perpetrator is brought to justice.

“We are providing our driver with full support and are offering her any assistance that she may need. This kind of behaviour is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated.”

West Midlands Police have confirmed they are investigating the incident and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

It is unclear what provoked the man but it is believed he may have been unhappy about the delivery.

The shocking incident serves as a reminder that people should always show respect for delivery drivers, who are doing their jobs to ensure the public can receive their parcels on time.
