Gunman shoots man in face near Queens park: cops
Police are investigating a shooting in which a gunman shot a man in the face near a Queens park on Tuesday night.
The victim, a 33-year-old man, was walking near the park when he was shot by the gunman, who approached him on foot, according to law enforcement sources. The shooting happened at around 9:30 p.m.
The victim was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where he is being treated for his injuries. His condition is not known at this time.
The gunman is still at large. No description of him has been released.
The NYPD is asking anyone with information about the shooting to come forward.
The shooting is the latest in a string of gun violence in the city. In the first three months of 2021, there have been at least 10 shootings in Queens, according to police data.
The NYPD has stepped up patrols in the area and is encouraging anyone with information about the shooting to call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
The shooting is still under investigation and no arrests have been made.
