Ex-Trump aide sells Ivanka black pumps for $25 ahead of arraignment
A former aide to President Donald Trump is selling a pair of Ivanka Trump-brand black pumps for just $25, days before his arraignment in a Washington, D.C. court.
Robert Hyer, who served in the White House as a special assistant to the president from 2017 to 2018, is selling the pumps on his website, HyerBoutique.com. The pumps are listed for $25, down from their original $75 price tag.
The pumps, which feature a pointed toe and 4-inch heel, are the same style Ivanka wore to her father's inauguration in 2017.
Hyer, who is set to appear in court on April 8, was charged with perjury and obstruction of justice in connection to the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.
The former aide has also been accused of lying to the special counsel's office and to a federal grand jury about his contacts with foreign nationals.
Although Hyer's online store has been selling the Ivanka Trump pumps for some time, the timing of the discount is raising eyebrows.
The pumps are being sold in Hyer's online store as part of a spring sale, which includes discounted items from several other designers.
In a statement on his website, Hyer says he is “proud to offer discounts on some of our favorite items” and that the discounts are “a great way to get some of the best fashion out there at a fraction of the cost.”
The statement does not address the timing of the discount or Hyer's upcoming court appearance.
It is unclear what the proceeds from the sale of the pumps will be used for. Hyer has yet to comment on the matter.
