GOP moves to block Biden,s pistol brace rule: ‘Abuse of rule-making authority,

Republican lawmakers are taking action to block President Biden's proposed pistol brace rule, calling it an “abuse of rule-making authority.”

The move comes as the Biden administration is preparing to expand the definition of “firearm” to include pistol braces, which can be attached to handguns to make them more stable and accurate when fired.

The proposed rule change, which has been widely criticized by gun rights advocates, would effectively ban a wide range of popular firearms, including the popular AR-15 pistol.

The GOP-led House of Representatives recently passed a resolution to block the proposed rule, saying it would “overstep the authority of the executive branch to unilaterally create new gun control measures.”

The resolution, sponsored by Rep. Anthony Gonzales (R-Ohio), would prohibit the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) from enforcing the proposed rule.

The resolution must now be passed by the Senate and signed by President Biden before it can take effect.

In a statement, Rep. Gonzales said, “This proposed rule is an abuse of rule-making authority, and it has the potential to infringe on the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans.”

The Biden administration has yet to comment on the resolution. However, the proposed rule has been widely criticized by gun rights groups, who argue that it is an overreach of executive power.

The National Rifle Association (NRA) released a statement saying, “The Biden Administration's attempt to bypass Congress and impose its radical gun control agenda through regulation is an affront to the Constitution and should be stopped.”

The NRA has urged Senate Republicans to take action to block the proposed rule.

It remains to be seen if the measure will pass the Senate and be signed into law by President Biden. If it does, it could be a major setback for the Biden administration's gun control agenda.
