Phillip Schofield shares damning statement after brother is found guilty of sex acts with boy & making him watch porn
Phillip Schofield, host of the popular ITV show ‘This Morning’, has released a damning statement after his brother was found guilty of sex acts with a teenage boy.
Timothy Schofield, 61, of Luton, was convicted of five counts of sexual activity with a child, as well as one count of making a child watch a sexual act, at Luton Crown Court.
In a statement released by Phillip Schofield, he expressed his shock and sadness at the news of his brother’s conviction. He said: “I was deeply shocked and saddened to learn of the outcome today. My brother Timothy is clearly a deeply troubled man and I hope he can now get the help he needs.
The court heard that Timothy Schofield had groomed the boy over the internet and then invited him to his home, where he subjected him to a number of sexual acts. He also made the boy watch pornography.
Judge Richard Foster described the case as ‘very serious’ and sentenced Timothy Schofield to four years in prison.
In his statement, Phillip Schofield expressed his sympathy for the victim and said he was ‘deeply sorry for the pain and suffering he has endured’.
He went on to say that he and his family ‘will be doing everything we can to support the victim and his family’.
Phillip Schofield’s statement is a clear indication of the family’s stance on the matter and shows their commitment to standing by the victim.
It is hoped that the conviction of Timothy Schofield will send a clear message that such behaviour will not be tolerated.
