Robbie Savage swells with pride in ‘beautiful moment’ live on TV after Man Utd star son Charlie scores first career goal

Robbie Savage was left feeling emotional after his son Charlie scored his first career goal in Man United's 5-2 win over Bournemouth last weekend.

The former Man United player, who is now a pundit for BBC's Match of the Day, couldn't contain his pride as he watched his son's historic moment on live television.

Speaking after the game, Robbie said: “It was a beautiful moment. I was watching the game on TV when it happened and it brought a tear to my eye. It was such a proud moment for me and my family.

“I'm so proud of him and what he has achieved. It's great to see him making his mark on the game.”

Charlie, who is a graduate from Man United's academy, is on loan at Bournemouth and made his first-team debut just last month.

The 20-year-old midfielder has been tipped for a bright future in the game and his father believes the sky is the limit for his son.

Robbie added: “He's got so much potential and I'm sure he'll go on to have a great career. It was a great start for him and I'm sure he'll kick on from here.”

Charlie's goal came just two minutes after his Man United team-mate Marcus Rashford had opened the scoring and it was a moment of real significance for the Savage family.
