Manchester United fans have been left in awe of goalkeeper David de Gea's incredible double save against Newcastle United on Sunday.

The world-class shot-stopper produced two stunning stops to deny Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron from close range as the Red Devils ran out comfortable 3-1 winners at St James' Park.

De Gea's contract at Old Trafford is set to expire at the end of the season, but United supporters are adamant the Spaniard has done enough to earn a new deal.

The 30-year-old's heroics were hailed by some as ‘one of the best goalkeeping performances of all time', with one fan claiming ‘it's worth a contract renewal by itself'.

De Gea has been a loyal servant to the club since his arrival from Atletico Madrid in 2011, and his quality between the sticks has been a key factor in United's success during his tenure.

The Spaniard has been the club's first-choice goalkeeper for the past nine seasons, and his contract situation is set to be one of the most talked-about topics in the transfer window.

The former Atletico stopper has made over 400 appearances for the club and won four Premier League titles, as well as three League Cups and one FA Cup.

The double save against Newcastle only goes to show why De Gea is so highly rated, and many Manchester United fans will be hoping the club are able to keep hold of him beyond the end of the season.
