Liverpool are reportedly set to launch a shock move for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, with Jurgen Klopp desperate to add fresh legs to his squad this summer.

The Reds have been linked with a number of players in recent weeks, but it appears they are now turning their attentions to the 19-year-old Blues star.

According to reports in the Daily Mail, Klopp is keen to bolster his midfield options and has identified Gallagher as a target.

The England Under-21 international has enjoyed a successful season on loan at Charlton Athletic, scoring five goals in 33 appearances in all competitions.

His performances have seen him attract interest from a number of clubs, but it appears Liverpool are leading the race for his signature.

Gallagher is highly rated at Chelsea, having been at the club since the age of eight, but the Blues may be willing to let him go if the right offer comes in.

The midfielder is thought to be open to the move and it appears Liverpool are confident of getting the deal done.

Klopp is keen to add more depth to his squad as he looks to challenge for the Premier League title next season and Gallagher could be the perfect addition.

The German manager is a big admirer of the youngster's talents and sees him as a potential long-term replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum.

It remains to be seen if Liverpool can convince Chelsea to part with the highly-rated Gallagher, but it appears the Reds are ready to make a move for the youngster this summer.
