India v Australia: fourth Test, day four – live
The fourth and final Test of the India v Australia series is set to be a stunning showdown, as the two sides battle it out for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Day four of the match is underway at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, with Australia leading India by a commanding 295 runs.
The Aussies will be eager to push for a victory, with captain Tim Paine leading from the front. The home side, however, will be determined to fight back, having already shown resilience in their batting this series.
At the close of play yesterday, Australia were in a strong position, having dismissed India’s top order and leaving them teetering at 50-3. Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane, however, have been leading the fightback this morning, with their impressive 94-run partnership.
Pujara, in particular, has been in fine form, having already hit his 28th Test century, and looks set to continue his impressive run. Rahane, meanwhile, has been playing a measured innings, but will need to continue to provide support if India are to get back into the game.
Australia, meanwhile, have been bolstered by the return of Pat Cummins, who has been in fine wicket-taking form this series, and has been able to put the pressure on the Indian batsmen. Nathan Lyon, too, has been a consistent threat, while Mitchell Starc has been a valuable asset with both ball and bat.
The match is finely poised, with both sides now looking to seal the win. Stay tuned for all the latest updates and reaction throughout the day.
