‘Donate a Doner’: UK kebab sales aid Turkey earthquake survivors

The UK kebab industry is proving to be a great source of aid for survivors of the devastating earthquake that hit Izmir, Turkey in late October 2020.

Through the ‘Donate a Doner’ initiative, UK kebab restaurants have been donating profits from doner kebab sales to help provide those affected by the quake with vital aid.

The initiative was launched by the British Kebab Awards, which is the UK’s leading awards ceremony that celebrates the very best in the kebab industry.

The ‘Donate a Doner’ campaign has been met with an overwhelming response from the public, with over £100,000 raised in donations.

The funds raised have enabled the Turkish Red Crescent to send aid to those affected by the quake, with food, hygiene and medical supplies being distributed to those in need.

Speaking on the campaign, British Kebab Awards founder Ibrahim Dogus said: “The earthquake in Turkey was a tragedy, and I wanted to do my bit to help those affected. I knew that the kebab industry had a unique ability to raise funds and hearts, and so the Donate a Doner campaign was born.”

The campaign has been widely praised by the public, with many taking to social media to thank kebab restaurants for their efforts.

The ‘Donate a Doner’ campaign is an example of how the UK kebab industry can come together to make a real difference in times of crisis. It’s a reminder that, with the right cause, small businesses can have a big impact.
